Meet Tiffany L.

Tiffany is the Head of Human Resources at Fluid Truck. She’s a force to be reckoned with, always well dressed, and has a few secret talents… read on to find out what they are, and to get some great professional advice from a hustling HR manager at a fast-growing startup!

What do you do when you’re not working?

I have two teenage sons, one of them is very deep into travel baseball so he has practice four times a week, and almost every weekend we're at a tournament. So my life is pretty consumed with my childrens' sports! When sports aren't going, we do a lot of skiing and hiking. We travel quite a bit too.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

What I like the most is the development piece of it. My true passion really lies in developing our internal team. I love helping people reach their full potential. Knowing that I can help empower someone to reach that potential when they start working here is super exciting. Secondly, I love selling Fluid to someone. I love being able to get on the phone with a candidate and sell them on why Fluid is awesome.

So, why is Fluid awesome?

It’s awesome because we have a lot of smart people who are constantly pushing their own personal development so you are forced to keep up!  I also love it because you have the opportunity to do anything you want. The sky is truly the limit.

Do you support any sports teams? Besides your sons’ of course.

We're from Atlanta, born and raised, so we're HUGE Braves fans - and I mean HUGE fans. Atlanta Falcons, and Georgia Bulldogs. We're a BIG sports family.

Do you have any secret talents?

I'm a really good cook! Also, I am a hell of a poker player too. I play Texas Hold ‘em and that's my jam. If I wasn't working here my secret passion would be to be a professional poker player.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever gotten, and, as a savvy HR professional, what’s the advice that you give people?

The best I ever got was when I left my previous firm for Fluid Truck. She said, "opportunities like this don't come along all the time. Take a leap of faith and go for it!"

The advice I give to people is, "be ready to be pushed outside of your comfort zone and do things that you may not be necessarily prepared for. Because Jimmy [Fluid Truck’s CEO] is going to do that!" So be ready to do things that are uncomfortable that are going to result in your professional development. These things are happening so that you can make bigger impacts on our organization and in your life. Fluid is going to teach a lot of people that they CAN do it. Like, what the hell - give it a shot! It's scary, but it's awesome that there's this kind of energy.

Do you have a favorite line from a movie, book, or song?

The one that comes to mind is from Dodgeball...  “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!”

If you were to have a TED Talk, what would it be about?

Maybe about how it’s all b*llsh*t that they feed you about being a princess and waiting for your prince charming. I’d call it "Fairytales Don't Exist!"

What’s your least favorite chore?

Dishes! I love to cook but I make my boys clean.

If you could have a Fluid Truck full of one thing, what would it be?

I'm a little bit bougie - probably Gucci stuff if it's not snacks.

Do you have a favorite joke?

No - and I'll tell you why - there's a dad joke of the day every day on the white board on our side of the office, and I can't handle it.

Do you have any hobbies or a side hustle?

Not really, but I used to deal underground poker games!
