DENVER, Mar. 30, 2021 – Fluid Truck, a technology-based truck and fleet rental platform headquartered in Denver, Colorado, today announces a partnership with IKEA Retail U.S. to support IKEA’s electric vehicle (EV) fleets in the New York City and Los Angeles markets.

The Fluid Truck and IKEA Retail U.S. partnership will enable access to electrified fleet vehicles on a flexible schedule for IKEA and its transport partners. A fleet of 40 electric vehicles (EV) are scheduled to service all five boroughs of the New York City market by May 2021. In the Los Angeles market, EVs will be delivered first to Burbank in May 2021 and then Covina and Costa Mesa, with the ultimate goal of having 50 EVs service the primary market area.

This partnership with Fluid Truck will advance IKEA’s progress toward a goal of 100% zero emission last-mile home deliveries by 2025. Fluid Truck’s EV fleet will give IKEA the flexible resources to deliver on sustainability commitments.

“Through this partnership, we are able to provide not only advancement towards zero emissions deliveries for retail, but also offer a more accessible business model for individuals and business owners that wish to make their operations more sustainable in the long term,” said James Eberhard, CEO and Founder of Fluid Truck.

This partnership with IKEA comes weeks after Fluid Truck announced the close of a $63 million Series A funding round, one of the largest Series A rounds in Denver’s history. As part of this funding round, Ingka Investments, the investment arm of IKEA parent company Ingka Group, became a minority stakeholder in Fluid Truck. This also comes on the heels of Fluid Truck’s incorporation of 600 Lightning Electric Vehicles onto their platform in October 2020 in an effort to provide sustainable operations solutions for the businesses they serve.

“This new partnership underscores the impact that electric fleets can have on helping incorporate greater sustainability into logistics models, and we are excited to play a part in advancing IKEA’s zero-emission delivery operations,” said Eberhard.
