Meet Manu S.

Manu is head of Customer Service at Fluid Truck, and is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Handling customer service for a fast-growing logistics company like Fluid Truck takes patience, problem solving skills, and grace. Nobody is better at it than Manu! Keep reading to learn what it's like to handle this job, and how you could join her team!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I love eating... going out for lunch, brunch, dinner, hanging out with family and friends. And of course traveling and exploring new places!

Do you have any pets?

I adopted a cat during the pandemic! She's turning one this Sunday. She's pretty special :) She sometimes acts like a dog, she plays fetch. Her name is Doc.

Do you support any sports teams?

I don’t…. I don’t really care about sports. It surprises everyone since Argentina is big on Soccer, but not me!

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I think honestly it’s when I see people from my team growing or stepping into new roles. That's what makes me the happiest for sure, helping people reach their goals and full potential.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

“Learn to delegate!” Not only for my own sanity and so that I can have a life, but to allow others to learn and grow and improve upon what I’ve done.

Do you have a favorite line from a book or movie or song lyric?

From a song by Lana Del Rey - “Baby it’s a sweet life, sing it like a song.”

If you were going to put on a TED Talk, what would it be about?

In 10 years from now I hope I'm ready to do something like this... If I were to get to that, I hope I could talk about the challenges of being a young female Latina leader in an American company, and how to overcome those challenges.

If you could have a Fluid Truck full of something, what would it be?

Cheese!! Every kind of cheese. I love cheese. Except Bleu cheese.

Do you have a favorite joke?

Yes! It’s in Spanish, but I’ll translate it too:

Jaimito le dice a la madre:

"Mama mama en el colegio me dicen dientudo!"

Y la mama responde: "Bueno hijo, cerra la boca que me estas rayando el piso."

In English: A kid goes to mom and says "Mom, kids make fun of me at school because I have big teeth!" Then mom says, "Son shut your mouth, your teeth are scratching the floor"

Favorite snack?

Cheese, obviously… and tomatoes.

What would you tell someone who wants to work for Fluid Truck?

I always tell people that it's  a super fast paced environment, and they have to be up for a challenge. I also am honest, and tell them it can be overwhelming and stressful many times because we have to deal with multiple things at the same time, and as a growing company there are many challenges we have to sort through. But that makes it super rewarding, because you get to actually help build the company and its processes, and it's also amazing to be part of a company that's actually changing the truck rental industry. If someone is passionate and really wants to commit to their job, this is the place for them!
