What’s your favorite part of your job?

Being able to introduce Fluid Truck to businesses that genuinely have an issue with vehicle accessibility, and issues with growing and expanding their business because they want to secure vehicles.

I have that conversation a lot with small and midsize businesses. Being able to be that person to get in touch with decision makers and provide a valuable solution for them to reach their goals is probably my favorite part of my job.

Also, the relationships that we've built. I really appreciate knowing customers on a professional and personal level. I've been able to build some pretty strong relationships here in North Carolina, and it's something I look forward to in the business.

When you aren’t working, what are you usually doing?

I take on different projects around my home. I liked doing DIY construction projects. I've installed flooring, an extension to my patio in the backyard, and put down some pavers.

I also like to hike every once in a while, whenever I get a chance to get out to the mountains. But I really enjoy spending time with my family! They're the centerpiece of my world. We get to spend time together and that's phenomenal. I have three children - two boys and one girl.

Do you have any secret talents?
I know how to play the saxophone and piano!

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

"Don't sweat the small stuff.”

Very early on in my career, I took a tough position. Sales exec in hospitality, selling timeshares. I was just being introduced to sales. I'd get bent out of shape over small objectives. But then I learned not to stress the small stuff, and that's probably served me best in my career. Just being big-picture, and understanding that in the process of building a business, you're gonna have wins and losses and ups and downs.

Also, I've had opportunities to hold leadership positions. I can say from a leadership perspective, compassion and humility are our greatest opportunity to lend perspective as it relates to working with and managing and developing people. That is extremely important.

If you could have a Fluid Truck full of one thing, what would it be?

Gold!

If you had a TED Talk, what would it be about?
Probably something relationship-based. If we were at a coffee shop (I'm much better one on one) I'd probably focus on what I said earlier - being respectful, leading with compassion, showing empathy, and using that to inspire change. You can apply that to a corporate setting, and you can also apply it to self-development on a personal level.

What would you tell someone who wants to come work at Fluid Truck?

It's a place where you can grow and develop as an individual. And you truly have the support you need to do that. My personal experience is that we went through a few trainings, and the company is always asking for feedback. I've seen changes made when necessary. And Fluid Truck generally wants to see their clients happy. They have a phenomenal product, something that's going to be around for a very long time. It's a sustainable business model, and it's a great place to be. It's exciting - no one day is the same.
