This month’s Employee Spotlight centers on David F. Fluid Truck’s New York City sales manager. David has been with Fluid Truck for a year and a half, and holds it down in the Big Apple by making sure our NYC small businesses and individuals are getting the best service on vehicles. When you aren’t working, what are you usually doing?

I have two kids, so I’m either chauffeuring them around or attending their sporting events. . As a self-proclaimed “foodie” I enjoy taking advantage of New York’s great food scene and love trying out new places. I also spend time volunteering at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) where I help out in their food pantry.

Do you support any sports teams?

I’m a big Yankee and Jets fan.  My son and I try to hit a few games each season.  It’s not easy being a Jets fan!

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I LOVE collaborating and meeting new people. Whenever there’s someone new in the company, I introduce myself and say “if I can help you in any way please let me know. Here’s my number.” Success is a group effort.

I recognize the importance of motivating and supporting my fellow colleagues. I was self employed for a long time and worked for a few fortune 500 companies, but being a part of a start-up is the happiest I’ve been since owning my own company. I feel like I’m really part of building something bigger than me. There’s a fun competitiveness that we all share.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Cut out all the distractions and stay focused on the task at hand. Don’t worry what anyone else is doing, just put your head down and grind. Two rules: Hard work and ethics.

Any secret talents?

Some would say I make mean BBQ! I love to cook the perfect steak. I make a pretty mean burger too.

If you could have a Fluid Truck full of one thing, what would it be?

Single malt scotch. I’d have a driver too, right? MacCallan 18! Cheers!

If you had a TED Talk, what would it be about?

I would talk about the art of the sale: the love of closing a deal. I’ve been in sales for 20+ years and I truly appreciate bringing value and efficiency to our customers and their businesses.

Do you have any hobbies or a side hustle?

This year I decided to make my own wine! I bought a set, and it came with wine grapes that are already crushed from Montepulciano. I went through the whole fermentation process, and put it in the bucket, and I spilled it while I was moving it!! Wine was everywhere. I was able to save a little bit though. Super fun to do, but I’ve been banned from doing it for a long time.

Why would you tell someone to come work at Fluid Truck?

I think the opportunity to feel like you’re part of growing something bigger than what you are. We’re expanding day by day and taking the truck rental industry by storm. We have the ability to better serve SMBs and Large customers through our Fluid Truck platform and our best in class customer service.
